I am frustrated with my 2 year old. Yes, I know she is "young", but I am telling you she KNOWS what to do! She knows all of the words, knows how to pull her pants up and down (usually down...she is often naked!). She hates pull-ups and only wants "big girl panties", but most often simply refuses to sit on her potty! Once in a while she will surprise me and just go running in there and go. So, she knows when she has to go! I have tried everything the experts say to try. I even bought one of the stupid expensive Corolle dolls that some have raved about! NOPE...nothing! When I ask her if she needs to pee in the potty, she politely says "no thank you mama". UGH! When I tell her she needs to go, she expertly lays down on the floor and won't move. She did, however, squat on my stepping stones last night and proceed to carefully and expertly pee on four of them.

I can't even teach my dog how not to poop in the house and I'm expected to teach a kid how to aim for a small hole? That's yet another reason why the idea of having kids is way too scary for me. Yikes! *grin*

J knows the 'how to..' He's even done it himself. He spent the better part of yesterday in his underpants and didn't miss once. But his default is the diaper.

I'm not too worried. Worse comes to worse he can sign up for potty training in college.

Isn't it fascinating... the conversations we adults get to have?

Our five your old took a while, and still wears pull-ups at night - with the occasional accident during the day.

Our 2 1/2 year old gets the idea - he comes running to the bathroom if he knows I'm going - and he's even done some work of his own on the potty. It's just getting him to tell us he's got to go poopies, instead of saying it after the fact. But he gets so excited to sit on the chair and try that we can't turn him down...

I really expect him to just turn to us one day and say he has to do it, get up there, do it, and that's it - he's done, mastered that skill, what's next?
