Can’t say I’m aware of Sally Mann (but I’m not a photo-guy). I’ve never really connected with the Geddes photos, they aren’t naturalistic enough to make me remember anything of my own youth, or pictures of me and my siblings.

This photo, yeah, I can relate. And the blonde kid, lookin’ at us…he know’s what’s goin’ on. He’s protecting his future by using the tub to cover his body…good thinking.

First off… true confession… my wife took the picture.

Nicole… I have a whole pile of pictures ready to whip out and show to boyfriends, girlfriens, potential spouses…. It’s all part of the joy of parenthood!

Jeremiah … thanks! I suppose that’s why Sally Mann’s images are so effective - it’s not necessarily her kids that people see but their own kids and / or childhood experiences. Or even Anne Geddes for that matter (I can’t believe I mentioned Sally Mann and Anne Geddes in the same breath…).

There’s really a lot of personality coming through this image. It could be just me, putting what I know about my family into it…but I really get a feeling that I know something about each one of these children, just through this picture.
