I’m thinking about working on this design… honest
Friday night, the Mrs. and me finally got out for a few hours for dinner and drinks. We headed out to South Norwalk, South-Western Connecticut’s excuse for a hip trendy neighborhood.
We really didn’t have a destination in mind for dinner. We figured we’d walk up and down the block and see what was going on. We settled on Ocean Drive, a seafood, asian-fusion, whatever goes, sort of place with a big couch in the bar area and a nice big dining room.
I was determined to have a martini. I used to drink them like they were water - back in the days when we were hip urbanites. I haven’t had a cocktail in at least two years and haven’t had anything like that on a regular basis at least since the boy was born. So needless to say I was relieved when the drink showed up and it was fairly good - just as I remember a good absolute martini with a twist is supposed to taste. I mean imagine if it sucked?
The meal itself was pretty good, if not a bit overpriced. But I guess that’s what it’s supposed to be. It was such a relief to get out and just talk about anything. And it was nice to eat without someone clutching at me or at Sue. We talked about anything that came to mind - Sue’s business, my life as a stay-at-home-dad, the food, the decor, blah blah blah.
The evening was polished off with drinks and desert at the bar, just like in the old days. Except unlike the old days, when we got home we had some kids to put to bed.
Today we’re borrowing my parents’ hotel room for some ‘alone time.’
