I’m thinking about working on this design… honest
h3. In A Wal-Mart Kind Of Hell
We got us a giant new Walmart in Norwalk. Not that I’m one to support the Giant American Capitalist Monster Machine (buy stuff buy stuff buy stuff). But I can’t help feeling that it’s a bit odd (not to mention contrary to my values) that a store that refuses to stock Cosmo would sell guns and even display them within reach of my children.
Haven’t you heard? Sex = baaaaad. Violence & Death = goooood! Our society’s odd moral guidelines sometimes really amaze me.
OMG, this made me laugh after my previous post.
I don’t necessarily think it’s ’society’s’ moral guidelines…. I think it’s the moral guidelines of a select few who by grace of being appointed to the White House, or own enough stores and have the business sense to crush their competition, are determined to impose their morality on the rest of us, and to demonize anyone with a different point of view.
The same thing is playing out in our popular culture with the domination of the broadcast industry by a few companies.
Of course we still go to WalMart for kids stuff - it’s so damn cheap.
live by the sword, die by the sword. it’s hard to complain when the have the goods i need at the price i want. i’m in the same boat david. and i want off.
