good morning

Looking back over the past few weeks of blogging I realize I’ve been on a bit of a political jones. No accident, I’ve been preoccupied with this and that and blogging about what others are saying about the State Of The Nation(tm) seems easier than addressing what’s going on in my little corner of the world.

Anyway… Our beloved babysitter Lindsey’s annual trek to the DelMarVa penninsula happend to coincide with Sue’s attendence at a conference on mold remediation and the insurance industry (whoohoo!!). So we’re juggling like crazy here trying to make sure that between Sue being sitting in a hotel conference room all day and me trying to get to work on time, we’re not dropping the kiddies off at Burger King and hoping for the best.

That leads me to wonder, how the hell do the rest of you do it? We’re pretty lucky — Sue is her own boss so if she needs to leave early she can and I only work part time … but two people working full time with kids? Christ.. how can it be done?

So today I’m home waiting for my in-laws to show up this afternoon so I can run upstairs, shower and get dressed and high-tail it to work hoping Sue gets back before they have to leave. She will and they will be fine and all will work out but it’s stressful as all heck trying to work it all out.

I need some more coffee…

We’re fortunate too. We’re in a position, through a combination of having a decent salary and living within our means, that Janelle works only 1 (long) day per week.

Our brother/sister-in-law were both full-time when their son was born. They did the day-care thing for a while, but the cost didn’t justify it, so she started staying home full-time. They’re in a better position than we are, income-wise, but they just bought this huge-a$$ house, so I can only speculate to their financial situation.

I know others who just have to have two incomes to make ends meet. The kids spend a lot of time in day-care. Those are the ones I worry about, but anymore things are such that a two-income family is a must. Bleh.

    Echo on the coffee. :^)
