Speaking of getting back into the darkroom.

You wouldn’t know it if you weren’t a complete photo-geek like me, but there’s a digital vs. film scism going on in the community of photogeeks. I come down on the side of the film freaks.

The arguement from the digital side comes down to the inevitable march of technological conquest. Film is so 20th century, they say. Why spend all night mucking about in a stinky darkroom awash in chemicals just to create one print. We can do it all from our desktops and we can do it over and over again.

But as Jeff, Bob and Gary point out there is something to the stench of fixer… something tactile about working in a darkroom. Something so analog that I just don’t want to let go of.

So I’m happy to have my darkroom back and I’ve got a backlog of ideas and inspiration to catch up on.

Plus, what’s more fun than a nice, giant enlarger?
