I’m thinking about working on this design… honest
Today I spent a good chunk of the morning out with the girls and the afternoon with J.
There are times in my kids’ lives where I’m just completely blown away by what they know and can do completely independently of me. Like when the cashier at Trader Joe’s offers the girls balloons they say ‘thank you.’ And that J can read independently.
I’m…. just…. blown away.
It is so cool when we realize all the stuff we have been saying
to our kids has sunk in. We look at them and think they are smart,
funny and polite. We teach them to read. We teach them to laugh
and be comfortable with themselves and we teach them manners.
Is it any wonder they turn out so great? We are good teachers
and they learn from the best. I love being a mom!!
I love it when my kids amaze me. It happens roughly . . . daily. Sometimes hourly. But, then, their mere existence amazes me.
Remember, the Nobel Prize winning physicist (and my hero) Richard Feynman credited his father as the single greatest influence on him because his father encouraged him to challenge conventional wisdom and orthodox thinking. Just think, you just might be that dad. You could be cited as the greatest influence on one of your kids in their acceptance speech.
Let’s just hope it’s for valedictorian or something like that and not employee of the month at Hooters, which is my greatest fear.
OK — I’ll just admit it. Sue and me have been good parents.
