I have given my child a time-out when we were outside the home but I certainly didn’t throw a mat down in the middle of a public place and have her sit on it to humiliate her. I quietly took her aside. You know, like a normal parent.
I find a good set of pillory stocks works just fine. Keep them in the trunk of the car and if the kids misbehave in the frozen foods section, you set them up in front of the store and lock ‘em in.
Of course, I live near the bible belt, so people then assume that they should be burned as witches, so there are some draw backs.
