one banana two banana

the banana spilts

Is there some genetic switch that makes kids of all ages need to sing along to the Banana Splits song?

Not that I’m complaining. Ralph’s version rocks the mini-van.

ahhh - the pain, make it stop :o

just kidding, but i do have funny story (to me at least) related to this…

when i worked at hanna-barbera in the early 90’s, my office was right next door the head of music production, bodi chandler, who was a great guy…

but his job was to get every show’s theme music and sound track perfect prior to tv of film release, so i got to hear every hb property for the era, 100’s of times, every iteration and tweak - thus they are all permanently etched into me now…

i’m sure my kid’s kids kids will hear one of these themes in the distant future and instantly recognize it via what they think is deja vu - but it will really be a dna modification that happened to great gran-pops ;)

Don’t mock the Splits, man. There was some surprisingly good bubblegum music that came out of there. “In A Cave” is a great rip on Paul Revere. And don’t get me started on the genius of Lancelot Link.

Remind me not to alert Mike when I rail on HB’s animation. I was watching Boomerang with my daughter and suddenly felt angry about my childhood. As much as I love those cartoons, I’ve come to love the art of animation more and . . . well, I kind of wish those guys had actually let their artists animate more than 1 frame every eight seconds . . .

Ah! You’re anime dad. Your son has a lot of talent. Don’t make him sit in a room and draw the same background for 70 hours straight. You’ll send him to the nut house.

And, oddly, you may be the second Mike Dunn I’ve come across on the net. One of the very first people I encountered in cyberspace was one Mike Dunn, who ran a David Lynch website.
