Q. What have we here?
A. This is a weblog documenting my new life as a stay-at-home / freelance public relations guy. I’ll be talking about my work, my clients, my general thoughts on the matter of where the industry is going and I’ll be highlighting important trends and developments in the industry as I see fit. Of course I’ll be adding my own snarky sensibility to the whole endeavor.
Q. And who are you?
A. I’m David Parmet. I’ve been in and about media relations since 1993. I’ve lived through the boom, crashed with the bust and now due to circumstances beyond my control (
11) I’m a free agent.
Q. Wait… aren’t you the guy who was….
A. …fired from a PR agency for blogging? Nope. Not me. Sorry. Read it again, carefully. Maybe I was being too clever by half, but I wasn’t fired for blogging.
Q. So how are things?
A. Actually things are great. The outpouring of support and good vibes from the blogsphere has been just wonderful. I’ve got good leads on jobs, freelance work and added dozens of new people to my blogroll (
2). I’ve managed to sign up one client already (more about that shortly) and I expect to have enough work to keep me pretty busy. Plus the kids are delighted to have daddy home more often.
Q. What about your other (
50) blog?
A. It’s still there and I’ll continue to entertain those of you who are interested with tales of diaper changes and cute things they say. Daddy make a picture holds a place in my heart, it’s where I learned to blog and found my voice and it’s not going anywhere.
Q. Now what?
Now I’ve got work to do.
