Reminds me of some agencies I’ve worked at

Herring Waffleman, a truly great communications company.

Runs in the family

My sister has taken my advice and started a blog as a part of her online business.

Andrea sells cloth diapers and accessories to other moms through the wonders of the Interweb. When I started nudging her about this she said, quite rightly, what would I write about? I suggested that since she’s an at-home, La Leche League-member, attachment parenting mom selling products to other moms, her customers might want a better sense of who they are sending their credit card numbers to.

What’s really impressive here is that she’s managed to create a marketing tool that really reflects who she is and what she cares about – it’s a bit opinionated, very passionate and very very practical. Just like my kid sister. And hopefully it’s a reflection of the kind of merchant her customers want to feel they are buying from at a very important time in their lives.

Good job sister… not that that’s any reflection of your big brother….

A blog by any other name

The fake blog meme is hitting the beaches.

Just to be contrary for a moment, how many of the people who are being targeted by these ‘fake’ blogs actually care that they aren’t ‘real’ blogs? Taking the question one step further, how many of those people even know what a ‘real’ blog is?

And does it really matter if it works, i.e., reaches its intended audience while at the same time getting a whole bunch of marketing geeks all in a lather and … writing about it?

Just being contrary.

RIP The Yellow Pages

When was the last time you dug deep into the junk drawer to find the Yellow Pages?

Ours is so firmly jammed in there I think we’ll wait to the inevitable kitchen remodeling to get it out.

With Google and Yahoo! both offering local search – Google adding reviews – is there any future for that big yellow tome?
