Hugh’s email interview with Seth Godin about his new book, All Marketers are Liars.

Well, we are, aren’t we?

A couple of weeks ago I was at a party, offering free marketing advice to the host who was trying to grow his business. I proposed Seth’s thesis – tell a great story and build a great brand without spending a dime more than you have to on advertising – much to the horror of an ad guy who was also at the party and offering his own free advice. His (the ad guy’s) big idea was ‘more 30 second spots.’ Spend more money. More money. And more money.

Side note – I live pretty close to where Seth lives and every now and then he makes a local reference in his blog – like this. Seth, if you are reading this…. I wonder if anyone can ever get Stew’s if you haven’t been to Stew’s.
