The alarm:clock, the Red Herring for Web 2.0, posted a screed against the evils of PR agencies this afternoon.
Their suggestion? If you don’t have an agency, don’t hire one. If you do, fire them.
The author cites the case of Topix.net, one savvy start up he claims has bucked the trend and decided to forgo agency representation, reaping rich rewards in the process – tons of media coverage and that ever-elusive positive buzz.
Steve Rubel, is CooperKatz a PR agency? Does it represent Topix.net? Just wondering.
I have an suggestion – for one month let’s all stop pitching alarm:clock. Aside from all the swanky parties they go to, let’s see what they have left to write about.
