Have some WiFi with that coffee Mister?

My favorite place to go get some coffee and free (yes free) WiFi is no no more.

Turns out that providing a free service that the $tarbuck$ across the street charges $6 an hour for isn’t such a good business plan after all.

  • There was actually a really good story about this in last week's NYT. The basic idea of free WiFi was that people would buy coffee, etc and sit there for a couple hours. What's happened is what I call the Borders (or B&N;) effect. Asses who come in, buy nothing but read the magazines and books, ruining the bindings.

But, the article noted that people were sittig there and not even buying food, just wasting space. It's all about flipping tables, and these leaches were just sitting there.
