“We are no longer beholden to the mainstream media!”

That’s what Hugh said to me this morning when we were discussing next steps for English Cut.

“The mainstream media is only a tool for us,” was my reply.

PR people are attached to their tools, often thinking of them as ends in of themselves.

Some brag about getting their clients on the cover. Not just in the magazine but on the cover!! The never ask themselves if the cover is on a magazine that makes sense for their clients.

All we’re trying to do here is get our clients in front of their customers, i.e., the folks that buy the stuff our clients are selling.

Not the media – the media is only a tool.

Just like blogging.
