that’s enough about me

You wanted to know what I’m up to these days, didn’t you?

Well.. my latest and greatest column is up at Apple Matters. It’s a good one. I’m starting to get the hang of this “write 400+ words on demand every week” thing.

And if you happen to be anywhere near Westport, CT on Thursday, April 6, I’m speaking on social media and marketing before the Cool Tea networking group. Info is here. I’m part of a larger panel on ‘keeping it simple.’ Should be fun, hope you can stop by.

  • I enjoyed the article, David. I too own a PowerBook and love it! Tivo and DVR are magical, and now that you've mentioned Tivo To Go, i can hardly contain myself!

I share your curiosity about the sustainability of usual broadcast television and DVD's. I predict that commercials will become obsolete in the not-so-far-off future. People have found their way around them, and now the trend just has to spread. When digitally recorded tv becomes the norm, advertisers will loose interest in commercials because it won't reach their target public anymore. Seeing that advertisements fund the shows, how will our favorite tv shows survive?

I assume that each network is aware and worried about their fate. (At least I hope they are!) I'm interested to see what innovative ways they plan on adapting to this inevitable problem.
