eSnips!

bird.gifThis month when I was out in Palo Alto I met with Yael Elish, CEO of eSnips. eSnips is a neat new site where you can upload pretty much anything that can be digitized – photos, music, your home movies, web sites and linkes – and control who can see it and how it is presented.

This week eSnips underwent a significant upgrade, adding social interaction to the mix, so now eSnippers can tag, share, collaborate and build communities around their interests and passions.

But that’s not the only news, the big news is I’m working with eSnips, helping spread the word among the blogosphere and media.

eSnips is a great company with tremendous potential. I’m excited to be a part of it.

You should all go right now and sign up for an account and then go read Yael’s blog.

Update: We’re off to a good start. Mike Arrington has a review up. Mike says:

The core idea is to allow users to upload media files of any type – photos, videos, office documents, whatever – tag them, and either keep them private, share with other or make them public. But eSnips is also allowing bookmarking of web content, from a whole page to a line or paragraph. Others can comment on each piece of media or content as well, and rate a user created page.

I like combining media and other files with bookmarked content, and although I’m not sure if eSnips in its current form will stand out enough from the crowd, I do think they are on to something interesting. If virality kicks in from sharing, they could have a winner.
