We’re not cool

or so says CNET’s Rafe Needleman in his review of eSnips.logo.gif

In a very roundabout way, Rafe is making an important point about what distinguishes eSnips from other social sites.

If you’re thinking about putting yourself online at a community content site, and you haven’t done so yet, you’re probably a good candidate for eSnips, a shared content site that appears to cater to the more restrained among us. The unthrottled in our midst are already on MySpace, of course, but there are people who want a platform that offers a bit more structure.

There’s also a very smart comment from Yael

CEO Yael Elish told me she wanted to create a site for people who want to express themselves through content they’ve already created, not new stuff they write for the site.

Or as we like to put it, eSnips is social networking and content sharing for the rest of us.

  • the other question you need to ask yourself is - "when is the last time you went to cnet on purpose?" - aren't they in the web 1.0 column? ;)

personally, i prefer my reviews and analysis to come from non legacy-minded folks, but i'm sure cnet serves some audience adequately...
  • Well, that's not really a bad thing, IMHO.
