Fashionistas

logo_wh_200.gifA couple of months ago I got an email from a guy who was in the middle of Naked Conversations, had a fashion business and as it turned out, lived only a 20 minute drive from me. The guy turned out to be my newest client, Howard Bender, CEO and founder of Coco Myles.

The synchronicity doesn’t end there. What got Howard jazzed was what I did with English Cut. Howard’s vision is for women to have the option of custom designed, fashionable dresses.

So once again I’m dragged into the unfamiliar terrain of the fashion press and this time around I’m finding there are a lot more blogs and other forms of social media than there were a year ago when I started pitching English Cut.

Do you think Thomas had something to do with that.

Anyway, without further ado, here’s our first big bit of news. For only a fraction of the cost, you can haveĀ  your own bit of the Grammys. Or as Budget Fashionista puts it

So you’re watching Joan Rivers and her clone/daughter Melissa, interview celebrities on the red carpet. Celeb after Celeb parades down the red carpet wearing the most fablulous dresses you’ve ever seen You say to yourself “Gee, it would be great to be able to rock that Teri Hatcher’s dress, but I’m broke and I actually have hips.”

I couldn’t have put it better myself.

Katrina plus one year

14800_gsized.jpg It’s been a year since I noticed Brian Oberkirch on my IM buddy list and sent him a friendly “I certainly hope you’ve evacuated.”

To commemorate the one year since Katrina made landfall, BlogTalkRadio is hosting Katrina One Year Later: Poets Take Stock, a live call in show featuring poetry and memories of the past year.

The show starts tonite (August 29) at 7PM PT / 10PM ET. So if you are reading this now, get over there.

You can listen here. More details here.

Rainy Friday

If there’s anyone in the journalism profession who’s at their desk this week or next, please PLEASE drop me a line and let me know. It’s gotten so bad with all the ‘out of office’ responses I’ve been getting to everything I’m sending out.

Come of folks… some of us gotta earn a living!

In the meantime, enjoy this from Mr. Ferry.

Podvertising

My profound thoughts on advertising on podcasts are running on Adotas.com.

Opinions, including contrary ones, are welcome of course.
