BlogOrlando has come and gone and what have we learned?
Apart from the chance to meet new faces, attach them to known blogs and see some old friends, BlogOrlando was a great chance to test out a new theory of mine. That is, we’re past the point of no return with social media. It’s no longer when and if but now and how. The 80+ attendees, everyone from ad and PR peeps to vbloggers and geeks, already incorporate social media into what they do. They didn’t come to learn so much as share.
That’s a very good thing.
Another interesting thought. While San Francisco and the Bay Area will continue to be the hub of social media business, the real innovation is starting to show up at the edges. Without the pressure of having to go big fast, attract VCs and move out of the garage, start-ups in places like Orlando can stay small, while still thinking big.
Fewer trips to San Francisco, more trips to places like Orlando. I like the sound of that.

Hi, David. It was great to meet–and learn from–you at BlogOrlando. It was an excellent chance for everyone to share their thoughts on social media. And while Orlando may not be a big hub of social media activity, we’re definitely a growing tech market in other ways. Keep up the great blog and I’ll be following along…
