Joining a club that would have me as a member

logo.gif Shel Israel has a way of attracting some of the most interesting start-ups, not only in ValleyLand but anywhere smart people have the time and inclination to start the Next Big Thing. So when Shel introduced me to Carlos Garcia of Scrapblog, I knew he (and now I) was onto something interesting.

Carlos and I first spoke about a month before DEMO. Soon afterwards the pre and post event craziness came down upon them and out of nowhere, everyone wanted to know about Scrapblog. Even my sister, who’s an off-line, old fashioned scrapbooker, wanted to try the new Scrapblog out.

Last week, just as I was getting comfortable in my seat and the flight crew was telling us to turn off all electronic devices, Shel called me tell me we were ‘go’ for Scrapblog. Yes, I was the guy on the plane getting told to turn off my phone.

I’m really excited about this opportunity. For one thing, they are seriously onto something amazingly cool. Just wait until you see the latest and greatest. For another thing, the best relationships I’ve had have been with clients who read my blog before hiring me and Carlos is no exception. As Shel puts it:

I told Carlos to go read David’s blog. Carlos did, and he came back with a succinct comment: “I like him,” Carlos said.

And then there’s this from Carlos:

Real success comes from being authentic. You see, the key to getting good reviews and building a community is having a great product.

It may seem obvious but so many companies just don’t get it. Carlos does and I really think he’s got something that’s going to be big. Really big.

Stay tuned….
