Pound Ridge, the place I call home, is one of those suburban areas that fancies itself to be more exurban or even rural. Minimum zoning is two acres. Most homes are not even visible from the streets which makes us attractive to a certain class of celebrity who wants to be able to live in peace but still mingle with the small folks.
Pound Ridge also attracts the sort of people who move up from denser regions, like New York City or the suburbs, demanding all the services they had back in the day with none of the inconveniences. So they want full mobile phone service, but don’t want ugly towers in our bucolic surroundings.
So we’re stuck with this monstrosity. A perfect metaphor for marketing, don’t you think. It does the dirty work and if you squint hard and long enough, it almost looks like a tree.
