For the past decade, London-born and New York-based artist Alan “Streets” Cowan has captured on canvas the unique energy and spirit of his adopted city. His life and art have been chronicled in the award-winning documentary “My Name is Alan and I Paint Pictures,” produced by client Raw Media, parent company of Raw Digital.
For more information about Alan, visit the web site for the film.
Unfortunately, Alan’s application for immigration to the US as an artist of exceptional talent has been denied by the INS, leaving his status in question. Alan is appealing the decision but should that be denied he may face deportation. I don’t need to recount all of the problems with aliens living in the US, legal or otherwise, as well as the sticky situation our government’s security obsession has created on our borders for visitors.
We are asking all interested parties to sign the petition, asking the INS for a positive review of Alan’s appeal, here.
If you can blog about this, and bring attention to Alan’s situation, you will have my eternal thanks and a butt-load of good karma to boot.
