The best PR is behavior you can be proud of -- THEN, it's just a matter of getting the word out. Further enabling the Chinese government in its abuse of human rights and the environment is simply immoral. Few things are black and white, but this is. Ever see the movie The Magic Christian? There's this great scene at the end in which a couple of well-heeled pranksters advertise "Free Money." Of course, loads of people show up. Dump trucks pour cash into a giant vat while people strain at the barriers to get at it. Then a tanker truck shows up and starts hosing raw sewage into the vat on top of the money. Then the pranksters open the barriers, and one by one the crowd climbs up the ladder and wades into the vat of sewage to get their share. THAT is the metaphor (IMHO) for doing business with or in China until its government gets serious about changing its behavior. "Constructive engagement" or excuses about it being a "developing economy" are just symptoms of denial.
