Unbelievable

There are bad pitches, and then there are the truly awful, tasteless, insensitive ones, bordering on evil. The one’s that give us a bad name, not only to journalists who have to read this crap but to the world at large who will someday view us as “a bunch of mindless jerks who were the first against the wall when the revolution came.”

And then there’s this.

There’s a special place in Hell for people like John Peters, CEO of The Back Up Home Protection Company.

Hoping for Change

Maybe I’m a bit biased, but it seems that the best of the viral videos have been coming from the supporters of the Democratic ticket. Two recent examples are from the Wazzup Guys

and from Ron Howard

Speaking of the looming election, I’m heading out to Wilkes-Barre PA soon for a weekend of door knocking. Remember, no matter who you are voting for, it’s important to do your part.

Can We Get More Annoying?

Table top ads, originally uploaded by david parmet.

This ad is running on every table top in the food court of the Trumbull (CT) Mall.

Forget for a moment the fact that there aren’t any REAL ads running, only ads for the ad shop. What I’m wondering is why interruption a still the default model for the ad industry, as opposed to engagement?

Is peaking through every crack, every nook and cranny of my attention really going to get my attention? Or is it just going to annoy me?

Ad people, please chime in….

My America

From where I’m sitting right now it’s a short walk to the graves of farmers and merchants who faced down the most powerful army of their day with nothing more than muskets, guile and a belief in liberty. I live a few miles from the home of John Jay, one of the authors of the Federalist Papers. I have neighbors who have held high ranking positions of consequence in both Democratic and Republican administrations.

So when I hear from certain political corners that there are “pro-American” and “anti-American” parts of our country, and infer that as a New York liberal I’m in the latter portion of our great land, I get a bit annoyed.

The Convincer

Sue and I caught Nick Lowe and Graham Parker at the Tarrytown Music Hall last night.
