All done

Another Syndicate over.

Honestly I would have liked to have seen more PR people, aside from the panel and a few friends in the audience. In the middle of our panel I asked for a quick show of hands and quickly realized that everything from then on was only relevant to a handful of our audience.

Too bad. We had a great panel and I hope we have the chance to do it again in San Francisco in October. Someone came up to me afterwards and told me we were the only panel that wasn’t trying to sell them something. That’s nice to hear.

Now.. back to work.

Update: Paul Gillin also wonders about the lack of marketing people in attendence.

I suspect this deficit is indicative of the head-in-the-sand attitude of mainstream marketing toward social media. One possibility is that marketers are scared. They’re deer in the headlights of a fundamental change in the way business and consumer customers want to be reached. So instead of dealing with the change, they’re denying it and simply hoping it’ll go away.

I suspect Paul is right.

Wine blogging at Syndicate

Stormhoek made several appearences last night.

At Britt Blaser’s apartment, a couple dozen marketing geeks gathered to enjoy the wine and the conversation.

Earlier in the evening, the wine was featured at a party sponsored by KnowNow.

Watch out, the meme is coming to a geek dinner near you.

Just the Gestures… stupid

Day Two of Syndicate and Steve Gillmor might explain the Gesture Bank.

Steve quotes his brother as saying his readers are smart than him. Steve’s response is that it’s not that the users are smarter… it’s that the users are in charge now and they aren’t letting go.
